Launchy CPU utilization
Posted by mikeg on July 12, 2008
Launchy is a great little utility that is not so great about CPU utilization. It is constantly taking up 30-40% even though default scanning interval is kept at 10 min.
I guess it is back to SlickRun

Indeed Launchy takes sometimes too much CPU (even 80%), but it depends of the PC (in my case), I don’t know why. Anyway you can try the version 2.1.2, maybe it will resolve your problem. I really don’t like SlickRun

I’ve 2.5.0 – You could turn off Auto-update catalog in Options > General.
Use F5 to manually rebuild catalog on demand

if you have an old system with losts of stuff then launchy is an overkill, always burning CPU to rebuild its index – what a piece of crap
